(Keyboard Pro)
- Keyboard Pass:
Google (myaccount.google.com/permissions).
(Limited Use).
Keyboard Pass:
Google Drive.

Privacy Policy — Keyboard Pro
Last updated: November 3, 2026
This policy explains how Keyboard Pro (the "app" or the "keyboard") handles your data. A keyboard sees what you type, so we built Keyboard Pro to process your typing on your device. Nothing leaves it except what you explicitly ask for through features described in this policy (such as online translation).
1. What the keyboard accesses
Like every keyboard, the app receives the text you type while using it. That is why Android shows a general warning, when you enable any keyboard, that it "may be able to collect all the text you type". The app uses your typing only to provide its features on your device: word suggestions, autocorrect, next-word prediction and phrase completion, gesture typing and emoji suggestions.
2. Data stored on your device
- Personal dictionary: words you type often and common word pairs, to improve suggestions. You can turn learning off or delete words in "Personal dictionary".
- Clipboard history (when enabled): text and images you copy. They stay on your device until you delete them, unless you turn on auto-delete after 3 days (pinned items are never deleted). Content marked as sensitive by Android or by the source app is never saved.
- Screenshots (only if you turn on "Copy screenshots", section 4): a copy of each new screenshot in the clipboard history.
- Recently used emoji and preferred skin tones.
- Settings such as theme, font, size, vibration and shortcuts.
- Background images and fonts you pick from your files, copied into the app only to be used by the keyboard.
- Keyboard Pass: the accounts, passwords, payment cards and other items you save yourself, encrypted (see section 4).
- The AI Keyboard key (the AI writing assistant), if you add one, encrypted (see section 5).
This data is fully deleted when you uninstall the app. None of it leaves your device unless you turn on "Sync devices" or "Daily backup to Google Drive" yourself (section 3) or save a backup file (section 5). Keyboard Pass content never leaves your device, even with these features.
3. Sync devices through Google Drive (optional)
If you use the app on more than one device, you can turn on "Sync devices" in settings so your suggestions are the same on all of them. This feature is off by default and only works after you link your Google account and give your consent.
- What is synced (you choose each part): the personal dictionary (the words the keyboard learned from you, how often you use them, common word pairs, and the words you deleted or blocked, along with your device's model name); the look and themes (appearance settings, your themes, background images and fonts you added); the key layout and languages; your shortcuts; the stickers you made; your recently used emoji; and the other settings. The full text you type, your clipboard history, screenshots and anything from password fields or incognito mode are never synced.
- Where it is stored: in a hidden, app-only folder in your own Google Drive (appDataFolder). It doesn't appear among your files and other apps can't read it. The data travels directly between your device and Google Drive; it never passes through our servers and we cannot access it.
- Google permissions requested: access to the app's own data folder only (drive.appdata); the app cannot see your other Drive files. And your email address (email), used only to show you the linked account in settings.
- Turning it off and deleting: you can turn sync off at any time, or delete all its data from Google Drive with "Delete my data from Google Drive" on the "Sync devices" page. You can also remove the app's access in your Google Account settings (myaccount.google.com/permissions).
Daily backup to Google Drive (optional, for Pro members)
- What is backed up: a full copy of your settings, design, personal dictionary, shortcuts, fonts, background images and stickers, and your clipboard history only if you choose. Keyboard Pass content is never included.
- Where it is stored: in the same hidden, app-only folder in your own Google Drive (appDataFolder), with the device's model name to tell each device's backups apart. The app keeps each device's last 5 backups and deletes older ones. Backups travel directly between your device and Google Drive and never pass through our servers.
- When: once a day automatically after you turn it on, or when you tap "Back up now". You can restore any of them on this device or a new one with the same Google account.
- Turning it off and deleting: you can turn off the daily backup or unlink the account on the "Backup" page. To delete saved backups: drive.google.com → Settings → Manage apps → Keyboard Pro → Options → Delete hidden app data, or remove the app's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- It uses only the same Google permissions listed above (drive.appdata and email).
Keyboard Pro's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Extra protection for sensitive input
- Password fields: no suggestions are shown and nothing typed there is learned.
- Incognito mode: available from the toolbar to pause learning; it turns on automatically in fields that request it (such as private browsing). In incognito mode, translation runs on your device only.
Copy screenshots (optional, off by default)
If you turn on "Copy screenshots" in the clipboard settings, the app asks for photo access. Then, when you take a new screenshot, it copies it to the clipboard and the clipboard history and offers it as a quick paste. The app only reads the newest image, and only if it is a screenshot saved a few seconds earlier; it doesn't open your other photos and never uploads any image. You can turn the feature off at any time and remove photo access in Android settings.
Keyboard Pass: passwords and payment cards
Keyboard Pass is where you save, yourself, your accounts and their passwords, payment cards (the card number, the name on it and its expiry date), IBANs and account numbers, ID or passport numbers, addresses and other text, to write them with a tap from the keyboard.
- Encryption and storage: stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with a key from the Android Keystore that cannot leave your device. Never sent to any server, never synced, and never included in any backup (not in backup files, not on Google Drive, not in Android's backups).
- The security code (CVV) is never saved; you type it yourself each time you pay.
- Locking: Keyboard Pass only works if your device has a screen lock. To write a password, a card number or any secret value, Android asks for your fingerprint, face or device lock code. Android checks it itself; the app never has access to your fingerprint, face or code, it only learns whether the check succeeded. After that it stays open for one minute, and you can lock it at once.
- Writing: values are written directly into the field you choose, never through the clipboard, and the keyboard learns no words from them.
- Apps and sites: with each account, Keyboard Pass remembers the names of the apps or sites where you used it, to offer it first there. This is kept with it, encrypted, on your device.
- The Keyboard Pass page in settings opens with your fingerprint, locks when you leave the app, and cannot be captured in screenshots.
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes Keyboard Pass content and its key; it cannot be recovered.
Autofill service (optional)
You can choose Keyboard Pro as the "autofill service" in Android settings, instead of Google or Samsung Pass, to fill whole login and payment pages from Keyboard Pass. Android then gives the app a description of the screen you are typing in (the fields' types, names and hints, and the app's name or the site's domain) to find the user name, password and card fields. This processing happens on your device only and nothing from it is sent anywhere. If you sign in or pay and accept "Save", the values of those fields are saved in Keyboard Pass on your device (never the CVV). You can turn the service off at any time in Android settings.
Verification codes from messages (can be turned off in settings)
When you are in a verification code field, the keyboard asks Google Play services (SMS User Consent API) to tell it about a message with a code arriving within 5 minutes. When one arrives, Android shows a prompt asking whether you allow the keyboard to read that one message. If you allow it, the keyboard extracts the code on your device and offers it in the bar to enter with a tap, then forgets it once entered or after 5 minutes. The app does not request SMS permissions, cannot read any message without your approval, and never stores or uploads the message or the code.
5. Data collection and sharing
We do not collect what you type, send it to our servers, sell it, or share it with third parties, except the text of the translation box, which is sent to Google Translate when you use online translation (see "Translation" below). The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking.
Some features work online. They only send what the feature itself needs, and only when you use it:
- GIF search: when you type in the GIF search box, your search term and device language are sent to our server, which passes them to the GIF provider (Giphy or Tenor) to get results. The GIFs themselves load from the provider's servers. We don't store search terms (our hosting provider may keep technical request logs for a short time), and nothing else you type is sent.
- Extra themes, sounds, stickers and emoji fonts: the app downloads this content from our server or Google Drive, and notices about app updates from our server. No data about you or what you type is sent with these requests.
- Publishing a theme you made: if you choose to publish your theme in "User themes", we receive the theme's design, name and background image, the designer name you enter (optional), and a random device identifier used to limit how many themes can be sent per day. Once reviewed and approved, the theme and designer name are visible to all users of the app.
- Sending a theme by private link: if you make a link to your theme, we receive the theme's design, name and background image, the name you enter (optional), and an encrypted hash of the device's Android identifier, used for the daily limit and to stop devices that break the rules from making links; the original identifier isn't stored. The theme shows in no list, only people with the link can reach it, and it isn't reviewed before sending. The developer may see it if it's reported or if the link reaches them, and may delete it and stop the device that broke the rules from making links. When you report a theme, the reason is stored with your device's encrypted hash. A link not opened for 30 days expires and its design and image are deleted; a banned device's hash stays while the ban lasts. You can turn this feature off in Settings › Appearance, and ask us to delete your link by email below.
- Requests and suggestions: if you send a feature request, problem report or suggestion from the "Requests and suggestions" page, we receive what you write in the form (the type, title, details and your name), your contact details and image if you add them (both optional), the device information shown in the form before sending (manufacturer and model, Android version, app version and language, typing languages, screen size, memory and Pro status), and the technical notification identifier used to tell you when your request's status changes. This data is sent only when you tap "Send request", is seen only by the developer, and is used only to answer and handle your request. Your device keeps a random key that lets it alone show its own requests. We keep a request until we delete it or you ask us to.
- Notifications: the app uses Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging to send general notifications (such as new themes and updates). This service creates a technical device identifier used only to deliver notifications. You can turn notifications off in Android settings.
- Subscription (Pro): purchases and subscriptions are handled by Google Play. We don't receive your payment details; the purchase receipt is only used to unlock Pro features. Renewal, cancellation and refunds are explained in the Terms of Use.
- Translation: works only when you open translation yourself from the toolbar.
- Online translation (on by default): for more accurate results, only the text you type in the translation box (or move into it with "Translate the field's text") is sent, with the two languages, to Google Translate (translate.googleapis.com) over an encrypted connection. It does not pass through our servers and we don't store it; Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy. Nothing else you type in fields is sent.
- On-device translation: if you turn off "More accurate online translation" in settings, are offline, or are in incognito mode, translation runs on your device with Google ML Kit and the text is not sent to any server. The first time you use a language its pack (about 30 MB) is downloaded from Google servers, and the library may send Google anonymous technical data about its performance that does not include what you type.
- Translation is not available in password fields.
- AI Keyboard, the AI writing assistant (optional): it only works if you add, yourself, a key from an AI provider you choose (such as Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, OpenAI, DeepSeek or another server), and only when you tap one of the assistant's buttons, or after you pause typing if you turned on "Automatic check" yourself (off by default; it sends the paragraph you're writing to suggest a fix). Then the text it works on (the selection or the field's text, or the last text you copied for "Smart reply") is sent with the requested instruction directly from your phone to that provider using your key; it never passes through our servers and we never see it. The provider you chose processes it under its own privacy policy; on some providers' free use (such as Gemini) the text may be used to improve their services. Your key is stored encrypted on your device only and is never included in backups or sync. The assistant is not available in password fields or in incognito mode. To understand your style, each request also carries what you wrote yourself under "About me", your Arabic dialect if you picked one, and some of the last results you put in the field (kept on your device only; you can turn this off or clear it on the "AI Keyboard" page). With a key added, translation also goes through it instead of Google (this can be turned off in the translation settings).
- Emoji styles: when you choose to download an emoji style in settings, the app downloads the style (images or a font) from its public source: the npm registry (registry.npmjs.org or its mirror registry.npmmirror.com), GitHub or jsDelivr, without sending any data about you.
- Backups: when you ask for a backup file, the app writes it (your settings, design, personal dictionary, stickers, and clipboard history if you choose) only to the place you pick; it is not sent anywhere. The daily backup to Google Drive is described in section 3. Keyboard Pass content is in neither.
None of these features send anything from password fields or in incognito mode. As with any internet connection, the receiving server sees your device's IP address during the request.
6. Permissions
- Internet: for the features in section 5 (including online translation), for syncing devices and for the daily backup to Google Drive.
- Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC): to show Android's fingerprint, face or lock code prompt before Keyboard Pass is used. The app has no access to your biometric data.
- Autofill service: works only if you choose it yourself in Android settings (section 4).
- Notifications: to show notices about new themes and updates; you can decline them.
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): only for voice typing in the keyboard (section 7). Asked the first time you tap the mic; the keyboard only listens after you tap it. If you decline, you can still switch to another voice input keyboard.
- Vibration: for haptic feedback on key presses.
- Picking images and files: done through Android's system picker, so the app only gets the single file you choose.
- Clipboard: read only to show clipboard history and quick-paste suggestions; you can turn this off in settings.
- Photos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, or storage on Android 12 and older): requested only when you turn on "Copy screenshots", and used only to notice and copy new screenshots (section 4). If you decline, the feature stays off.
7. Voice input
When you tap the microphone button, the keyboard opens its own voice panel and listens to what you say to type it in the field. It only listens after you tap the mic, until you stop or tap it again. The audio is passed to the speech recognition engine you choose in settings (the phone's own, such as Google or Samsung, or another installed app such as Marmalade STT), which may process it on your device or online depending on the engine, under its provider's privacy policy. Keyboard Pro does not store your voice or send it to our servers, and voice typing is not available in password fields. You can instead choose, in settings, to switch to another voice input keyboard installed on your device.
